Cost Effective Estate Planning

Imagine what would happen if you were to pass away today. Would your family be prepared to transition smoothly to life without you? Would they know your wishes regarding burial or cremation? Who you would like to be the executor of your estate? The location of your assets and how you want them to be passed? Would your assets be subject to unnecessary taxes or legal fees? Would Probate be required?

Estate Planning means preparation for the distribution of your money, personal goods and real estate, along with clear instructions for your medical wishes and the kind of final ceremonies (burial, cremation, etc.) you desire. Good estate planning preparation makes life much easier for your family and heirs at a time when they are already burdened with the loss of their loved one.

Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Health Care Directives have different formalizing requirements, such as witnessing or notarization. They must be done correctly or they will not be valid. Trust us to take the time to ensure that your documents will stand up to any type of scrutiny or challenge!

You work hard to manage your everyday affairs, pay your rent or mortgage, and organize you life for the comfort of your family. A will helps you with the same kind of organization when you pass away. It lets your wishes for your assets be known and provides comfort and ease to your family and friends.
WILLS
HEALTH DIRECTIVES
It is most thoughtful to have a health directive outlining exactly what your wishes are for health care and final services such as burial or cremation. It provides a great comfort to your family and loved ones knowing that your real wishes are being fulfilled, and relieves them of a heavy decision-making burden.
POWER OF ATTORNEY
When passing your assets to your heirs it is a good idea to ensure that in case you become unable to take care of legal duties such as changing the names on bank accounts or paying bills, someone has been designated to have the power to act for you and ensures that necessary business affairs are taken care of.
A Trust is a document used to ensure that when you pass away your assets  will be transferred to your desired heirs with no probate and the least amount of bureaucratic hassle. A trust provides an umbrella under which your assets can pass easily to those you wish to receive them.

OUR SERVICES

Meet your estate planning attorney

Attorney John A. Comerford began his legal career helping United States navy servicemen with family law issues. A major area of his practice is Estate planning, meaning preparation for the distribution of a person's assets upon his or her passing. This vitally important area of law is often overlooked, resulting in serious problems for the remaining family members, including a complete loss of a person's assets, disputes over how they should be distributed, and in some cases, a lengthy and costly probate process. With proper estate planning family assets can be preserved and passed with the minimum of inconvenience for family and heirs. Comerford Law Firm is dedicated to helping people pass assets smoothly, and in the exact manner desired by the owner.

OUR ADVANTAGE
We work with our clients to ensure that their estate plan reflects their real wishes for the transfer of assets, and that it will work smoothly when the time comes. Some documents require the signature of two witnesses, while others require the stamp of a notary public. That is the value we add to our clients' estate plans. We are not a mere software fill-in service. We discuss with you how you wish your assets to be distributed, and we make certain that the documents required for the fulfillment of your wishes are done correctly, so that they will stand up to any kind of scrutiny or challenge. A little advance planning goes a long way toward helping your loved ones through the difficulty of your passing. It is a great gift to them, and a gift to yourself as well in that you can be confident that your wishes will be upheld.
